Brownells® Contributes to Iowa Conservation

Brownells® recently acted to help ensure future generations will be able to enjoy the benefits of wildlife and nature with a donation to Pheasants Forever’s Build a Wildlife Area program.

The company’s $5,000 donation is matched by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, increasing the final amount donated to $15,000.

“Conservation is something near and dear to all of us at Brownells,” said Frank Brownell, company president. “The money donated to Pheasants Forever will be used to purchase land in Iowa to create permanent public wildlife areas.”

Once purchased, the wildlife area will be turned over to the Iowa DNR or local County Conservation Boards for management. Then the wildlife area will be opened to the public for hunting and other outdoor recreational activities. The program then renews itself and begins banking contributions to purchase additional land.

“The Build a Wildlife Program taps into something very important to all Iowa outdoorsmen and women, public wildlife land,” explained Dave Van Waus, Pheasants Forever regional biologist in central Iowa. “Not only will this new program expand the land available to outdoor enthusiasts, it will perpetually secure the protection of critical wildlife habitat. The program’s benefits for Iowa’s environment, natural resources and the general public are considerable.”
